God is mighty! Did you know that? Though we often will sing songs proclaiming God’s power and we will preach His might from our pulpits, do we really believe it? As a child, I grew up in the church. I was taught all the amazing Bible stories in Sunday School. I remember loving the stories so much that I would always ask my grandmother to tell me the stories as she would drive us to her house on the lake when I was younger. She would tell me about God bringing Israel out of Egypt and parting the Red Sea, God giving David the strength to conquer Goliath, Daniel being saved by God in the lions’ den, Jesus calming the storms with His hand, and so much more! But as I grew older I think I began to treat these stories as – stories. Though I didn’t doubt the authenticity of the events, somehow I had forgotten that the epic stories of the Bible were real moments in history where our mighty God demonstrated His power. It is important that as Christians we need to remember that our mighty God still exists and that He is still actively at work. Romans 1:16 states, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” God’s power continues to change the world through His gospel message, and He continues to break chains, conquer enemies, and save souls. When God raised Jesus from the dead with His mighty hand, God demonstrated that not even death can stop Him. If you have come and are in a saving relationship with Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, then you have experienced God’s transformational power firsthand. When Jesus was asked about obtaining salvation and eternal life.
Matthew 19:26 states, “Jesus looked at them and said to them, ‘With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’”
God dwells in the world of the impossible! Though there are many things that are impossible for us, God is mighty and sovereign. We as humans are limited in time, space, wisdom, and strength, but our God is limitless! When we do not have the answers. God does! When we do not have the strength to press on. God can! When you feel like giving up, God won’t! God has proved His might time and time again. Whether we face giants, mountains, lions, storms, trials, temptations, failures, or anything else, we have a mighty God that we can trust. Let us be encouraged by the fact that we serve a mighty God that is worthy to be praised!
